A Class A CDL and valid driver’s license are required, with a potential on-call component for emergencies. The position is based in Columbus, OH within the Building & Grounds department, offering a $28.37 hourly rate and a full-time schedule.

Qualifications

• General knowledge of pruning and removing trees
• Ability to climb trees reaching 50–100 feet
• Understanding of safety practices in tree work
• Ability to communicate effectively with the public

Responsibilities

• Prunes trees, shrubbery, and perennials using hand tools and power equipment to ensure proper growth and appearance, and to prevent security problems.
• Removes trees and limbs damaged by disease and weather for safety and appearance; performs tree/limb felling when there is risk of property damage.
• Operates aerial lifts or climbs trees using ropes and saddle to prune or remove limbs.
• Operates machinery such as chipper, log loader, and stump grinder.
• Maintains machinery and vehicles; checks fluids, greases parts, sharpens or replaces blades.
• Performs safety inspections on ropes, saddles, and equipment.
• Cleans worksite after job completion with rakes, brooms, shovels.
