Job summary

The City of Toledo is seeking a Tree Service Worker to trim and remove trees around high voltage wires, perform pruning and cabling, and operate aerial tower equipment in public areas. This role requires climbing, rigging, and careful handling of logs and equipment on city property.

Two years of tree care experience and the ability to lift up to 90 lbs are required, with certification as a Line Clearance Tree Trimmer within a year and a temporary Class A CDL permit upon appointment.

Qualifications

• Ability to read at the 10th grade level.
• Two years of experience in care and maintenance of trees using aerial tower equipment and climbing.
• Certification substitutions for experience where applicable.
• Must obtain a temporary Class A CDL permit upon appointment.
• Must be able to lift up to 90 lbs.
• Must be a certified Line Clearance Tree Trimmer within one year.

Responsibilities

• Trims, prunes, braces, cables trees and removes limbs.
• Operates chain saws and aerial equipment.
• Loads/unloads logs and brush; prepares trees for planting.
• Maintains safety and uses rigging/roping techniques in hazardous areas.
