The Davey Tree Expert Company is hiring a Tree Care Groundperson for an outdoor role in Sterling, VA. You will support climbers and crew members, perform pruning and removal work, and operate essential equipment in outdoor environments.

The position emphasizes safety, skill development, and teamwork within a leading employee-owned company. Prior orientation and safety trainings are required upon hire, with opportunities for growth within Davey’s extensive network.

Qualifications

• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Preferred: relevant pesticide licenses and state requirements.
• Preferred: ISA/TCIA certifications for arborist/tree worker/safety.

Responsibilities

• Assist climbers, foreman and crew members.
• Perform pruning and removal work safely and skillfully for clients, including pruning, thinning, removing deadwood, installing cables/bracing/lightning protection.
• Maintain, prepare and operate tools and equipment (chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts).
• Contribute to the greenspace stewardship team and safety culture.

Pay $20.-$24 hr depending on experience

We are currently looking to add a dynamic Tree Care Ground person to our passionate team of tree care professionals. Your office is outdoors, and you get a new view every day!

Job Duties

• You will assist the climbers, foreman, and other crew members.
• Performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients Including but not limited to:
• Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
• Installation of cables, bracing and lightening protection systems
• Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Be part of the most progressive greenspace stewardship team in the industry!

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire
• Ability to complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds
