Job summary

The Davey Tree Expert Company is seeking a Tree Care Groundperson to join our outdoor team in Yorkville, IL. You will assist climbers, foremen, and crews while performing pruning, removal, and related services in a safe, skilled manner.

You will maintain and operate all tools and equipment, including chainsaws and aerial lifts, and you will join a leading greenspace stewardship team with opportunities for advancement and a strong safety culture.

Qualifications

• Love of the outdoors.
• Complete the Davey Tree Trimmer Orientation Program upon hire.
• Complete the Davey Tree First Aid, CPR and defensive driving course upon hire.
• Must be able to lift 50 pounds.
• Preferred: Relevant pesticide and related licenses and certificates, if required by state law.
• Preferred: Previous experience in tree care or related industry.

Responsibilities

• Assist climbers, foreman and crew members.
• Perform pruning and removal services safely and skillfully including pruning, thinning, deadwood removal; install cables, bracing and lightning protection; remove hazardous trees.
• Maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Be part of the greenspace stewardship team in the industry.

Job Duties

What You'll Do:

• You will assist the climbers, foreman, and other crew members.
• Performing all aspects of tree pruning and removal services safely and skillfully for clients Including but not limited to:
  • Pruning, thinning and removing deadwood throughout the tree canopy
  • Installation of cables, bracing and lightening protection systems
  • Removal of hazardous trees
• Properly maintain, prepare and operate all tools and equipment including chainsaws, chippers, aerial lifts and more.
• Be part of the most progressive greenspace stewardship team in the industry!
