Joshua Tree Experts in Birmingham, AL is seeking a Tree Care Crew Leader & PHC Specialist to supervise a small crew and manage PHC treatments across assigned routes. This role blends field leadership with technical plant-health care expertise.

Qualifications

• 3–5 years of proven tree care operations experience, including climbing, pruning and removals.
• Hands-on PHC application experience and knowledge of southeastern tree species.
• Strong leadership, problem-solving and on-the-job decision-making skills.
• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of 21 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED.
• Ability to lift at least 50 lbs repeatedly, navigate uneven terrain, and work outdoors in adverse weather conditions.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week, with overtime as necessary.

Joshua Tree Experts, the premier outdoor home service company, is seeking a highly skilled Tree Care Crew Leader & PHC Specialist to join our fast-growing Birmingham, AL team.

In this dynamic, dual-role position, you will divide your time between overseeing a high-performing General Tree Care (GTC) crew and managing an assigned territory for specialized PHC treatments. If you thrive in a positive, safety-first culture and have a passion for comprehensive tree and shrub care, we want you to lead our field operations.

Key Responsibilities

• Job-Site Leadership: Oversee daily job-site execution, directing a 2- to 4-person crew to ensure tree pruning, removals, cabling, and bracing are completed safely and efficiently.
• PHC Route Management: Complete daily assigned PHC routes across residential and commercial properties. Diagnose common ornamental tree and shrub issues and apply targeted treatments (sprays, soil injections, and fertilization).
• Client Communication: Serve as the on-site face of Joshua Tree Experts. Build professional, trusting relationships with homeowners, answer questions regarding plant health, and ensure 100% client satisfaction.
• Equipment Operations & Maintenance: Safely operate, calibrate, and maintain a wide range of specialized equipment, including spray rigs, backpack sprayers, air spades, chainsaws, chippers, and aerial lifts. Complete daily truck inspections and preparation.
• Safety & Compliance: Enforce strict adherence to company safety policies and ANSI standards. Ensure safe drop zones, identify job-site hazards, and maintain accurate paperwork for product usage and compliance.

Minimum Qualifications

• 3 to 5 years of proven experience in tree care operations (including climbing, equipment operation, pruning and removals) combined with hands-on PHC application experience.
• Extensive knowledge of southeastern tree species, plant diseases, regional pests, and proper care techniques.
• Excellent problem-solving, leadership, and on-the-job decision-making skills.
• Valid Driver's License with a clean driving record.
• Minimum of 21 years of age with a High School Diploma or GED.
• Physical capability to lift at least 50 lbs repeatedly, navigate uneven terrain, and work outdoors in adverse weather conditions, including summer heat.
• Ability to work 40 hours per week, with flexibility for overtime as necessary.

Preferred Qualifications

• Alabama Commercial Pesticide Applicator License (or ability to obtain quickly).
• ISA Certified Arborist credential, or ability to obtain.
• CDL-B License.
