Job summary

Independence School District is seeking a Recovery Room Interventionist to support students with behavioral and learning goals across two elementary sites. You will work with teachers, parents, and staff to implement plans and to model positive behavior while providing needed supervision and support.

Qualifications

• Associate degree or 36 college hours and/or active Content Substitute Teaching Certificate required.
• Bachelor degree in a related area preferred.
• Experience with children or youth with behavioral needs preferred.
• Ability to handle daily stressors like inappropriate behaviors.
• Ability to use email or willingness to learn with training.
• Ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Cooperate with teachers, admins, parents, and staff to implement behavioral and instructional plans.
• Possibly restrain students using CPI and/or MANDT as required.
• Work with individuals or small groups to reinforce problem-solving skills.
• Adapt learning materials to meet student needs.
• Interact positively with students and model appropriate behavior.
• Provide escort and assistance to students as necessary.
• Maintain confidentiality of student records.
