Job description

MissionHires is seeking a Traveling Project Manager on behalf of a company to lead mechanical construction projects from planning through completion. This role coordinates engineering, VDC/BIM, field, customer, and subcontractor teams while managing project financials, schedules, safety, materials, documentation, and contractual requirements. The ideal candidate is a proactive mechanical construction professional with strong communication, project-management, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities
  • Manage and coordinate mechanical construction projects from conception through completion.
  • Lead and communicate effectively with engineering, VDC/BIM designers, schedulers, field foremen, customers, subcontractors, and other project stakeholders.
  • Develop a detailed understanding of each project’s scope, specifications, general conditions, and contractual requirements.
  • Order materials and equipment, issue subcontracts, develop billings, and manage RFIs, change orders, and submittals.
  • Oversee the preparation of fabrication shop work packages, including detail drawing reviews, material takeoffs, buyout activities, and fabrication labor budgets.
  • Partner with the Safety Department to identify, manage, and mitigate project risks and ensure compliance with jobsite safety regulations.
  • Monitor onsite and offsite construction activities to support quality, safety, schedule, and contractual compliance.
  • Plan ahead to identify potential issues early and implement solutions before they affect project delivery.
  • Ensure contractual conditions of performance are met throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage multiple priorities and deadlines while maintaining clear, timely communication with project teams.
Requirements
  • 1–3+ years of experience as a Project Manager in mechanical construction.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Mechanical Engineering, or equivalent proven construction-management experience.
  • Ability to lead cross-functional project teams and communicate clearly with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong knowledge of project management practices, construction documentation, billing, change orders, RFIs, submittals, and subcontract administration.
  • Proficiency with Primavera P6 or Microsoft Project.
  • Strong computer skills and familiarity with construction management software.
  • Knowledge of HVAC and piping systems, construction details and design, building products, relevant regulations, and quality standards is preferred.
  • Excellent time-management, organization, and multitasking skills in a deadline-driven environment.
  • Self-motivated, proactive, and committed to long-term project goals.
  • Confidence in applying existing knowledge and resourcefulness to research and resolve unfamiliar issues.
