Job summary

Diamond Peak Recruiting is seeking an experienced Traveling Mechanical Construction Project Manager to oversee large-scale mechanical construction projects across the United States. Manage projects from preconstruction through closeout with responsibility for budgets, scheduling, and client relationships.

The ideal candidate will have extensive HVAC, piping, and plumbing project experience, comfort traveling full-time, and a strong track record in leadership and field execution.

Qualifications

  • Five+ years of mechanical construction project management experience.
  • Experience managing commercial/industrial projects (HVAC, piping, plumbing).
  • Ability to travel full-time to project sites.
  • Strong leadership, communication and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee HVAC, plumbing, hydronic and process piping scopes.
  • Develop and maintain budgets, forecasts, schedules, and cost reports.
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and documentation.
  • Coordinate with owners, GC, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field leadership.
  • Lead project meetings and provide updates to clients and leadership.
  • Identify risks and develop proactive solutions.
  • Ensure safety standards and project closeout activities.
  • Support turnover, commissioning, and punch-list completion.

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Traveling Mechanical Construction Project Manager to oversee large-scale mechanical construction projects throughout the United States. This position will manage projects from preconstruction through final closeout, with responsibility for financial performance, scheduling, subcontractor coordination, client relationships, and field execution.

The ideal candidate has experience managing commercial or industrial HVAC, piping, and plumbing projects and is comfortable traveling full-time to project locations.

About the Role

Manage mechanical construction projects from preconstruction through completion.

Responsibilities
  • Oversee HVAC, plumbing, hydronic piping, process piping, and related mechanical scopes
  • Develop and maintain project budgets, forecasts, schedules, and cost reports
  • Manage RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, and project documentation
  • Coordinate with owners, general contractors, engineers, subcontractors, vendors, and field leadership
  • Partner with superintendents to manage manpower, productivity, safety, quality, and schedule performance
  • Review drawings, specifications, contracts, and scope requirements
  • Lead project meetings and provide regular updates to clients and company leadership
  • Identify project risks and develop proactive solutions
  • Manage equipment and material procurement, including long-lead items
  • Ensure compliance with company safety standards and project-specific requirements
  • Support project turnover, commissioning, punch-list completion, and final closeout
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients and project partners
Qualifications
  • Five or more years of mechanical construction project management experience
  • Experience managing commercial, healthcare, data center, advanced technology, manufacturing, or industrial projects
  • Strong knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, mechanical piping, and equipment installation
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, schedules, subcontractors, and field teams
  • Ability to read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and contracts
  • Experience with RFIs, submittals, change orders, forecasting, and project closeout
  • Strong leadership, communication, organization, and problem-solving skills
  • Proficiency with construction management software such as Procore, Bluebeam, Microsoft Project, P6, or similar platforms
  • Willingness and ability to travel full-time to project locations
  • Bachelor's degree in construction management, engineering, or a related field is preferred but not required
  • OSHA 30 certification is preferred
Pay range and compensation package
  • Base salary up to $150,000, depending on experience
