Job summary

The Retina Institute of Florida is hiring an Ophthalmic Technician to join our team. The role involves assisting physicians, performing diagnostic tests, and delivering high-quality patient care across three weekly locations (Boca, Palm Beach Gardens, Stuart). Travel between sites is required.

The ideal candidate has ophthalmology experience, COA/COT/COMT certification, strong customer service, and meticulous attention to detail. Proficiency with EMR and ophthalmic equipment is essential.

Qualifications

• Minimum of 1 year experience in ophthalmology or optometry setting.
• Certified as a COA, COT, or COMT.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Excellent attention to detail and organization.
• Familiarity with basic computer programs, such as the Microsoft Office suite, EMR.
• Proficient in ophthalmic diagnostic equipment (OCT, Visual Fields, etc).

Responsibilities

• Greet patients and gather comprehensive patient medical history and document chief complaints.
• Perform visual acuity testing, refractions, tonometry, OCT, fundus photography, and other diagnostic testing.
• Assist doctor during eye exams and in-office procedures, as needed.
• Educate patients on procedures, treatments and post visit care.
• Administer eye drops of medications as directed by physician.
• Maintain a clean, organized workspace at all times.
• Maintains and calibrate diagnostic equipment.
• Accurately input data into EMR system.
• Assist with patient flow and efficiency.
