Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking an experienced MEP Superintendent to run the daily on-site operations, including scheduling, production, and procurement of materials and manpower. You will supervise direct labor, oversee any subcontracts, and ensure timely project completion with focus on mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems.

You will coordinate with the Project Manager, manage look-ahead schedules, and support commissioning and startup activities while maintaining safety and quality

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering or construction; 10+ years' experience focused on MEP systems.
• Hospitals/medical facilities experience is a plus but not required.
• Knowledge of construction processes and codes; reads blueprints accurately.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Strong written and verbal communication; basic Spanish preferred.
• Good administrative and management skills; proactive problem solving.

Responsibilities

• Plan procedures from specs, start/finish times, and staffing for each phase.
• Work with PM to determine schedule; develop look-ahead schedules.
• Coordinate pre-construction meetings and mobilization activities.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Coordinate updates with all parties; meet subs, craft workers, and clients.
• Resolve issues with supervision and engineering staff; improve methods.
• Inspect progress to ensure compliance with specs and schedules.
• Support commissioning and ensure systems are ready for testing.
• Oversee pre-functional checks, start-up, and performance verification.
• Ensure documentation (O&M manuals, as-builts) is complete and accurate.
• Coordinate training for hospital facility staff.
• Assist PM in preparing Project Management Plan; enforce safety and quality policies.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.
