Job summary

IES Communications is seeking a Lead Communication Tech to act as on-site coordinator and crew supervisor for voice and data installation projects in the Reno area. Responsibilities include ensuring project completion per quality and safety standards while supervising assigned staff.

You will train crews, coordinate with the Project Manager, and manage project paperwork. Strong technical knowledge, fiber termination ability, and MS Office proficiency are required; travel is 100% full-time.

Qualifications

• Must possess at least a High School diploma or GED equivalency.
• Minimum of three (3) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical field.
• Must be able to terminate fiber.
• Minimum of six (6) months supervisory and/or managerial experience.
• Must possess and be able to effectively use the tools listed above.
• Must have proven skill level to interpret blueprints and other project documents, including but not limited to specifications, reporting and quality requirements.
• Must know the universal communications color codes.
• Must be proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel and MS Project)
• Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
• BICSI Certification preferred.

Responsibilities

• Lead major project crews; supervise performance and provide training; hold weekly safety meetings; elevate to Project Manager as needed.
• Coordinate with Project Manager to ensure productivity, job completion and budget compliance.
• Complete IES paperwork accurately and on time (timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers).
• Perform quality checks; coordinate moves and cross connects; prepare red-lined as-built drawings.
• Serve as main on-site customer contact; attend facility and construction meetings when required.
• Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues; maintain a detail-oriented approach to project work.
• Other responsibilities as assigned.
