Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a Superintendent to oversee daily on-site operations for ground-up commercial projects, coordinating schedules, procurement of materials, manpower and equipment to meet milestones.

This role requires full-time travel to project sites nationwide; the location shown is not the project site. The ideal candidate holds a construction management degree, 5+ years on ground-up projects, and strong writing and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field.
• 5+ years of experience in ground-up commercial projects, especially in light industrial/cold storage.
• Strong knowledge of construction processes and codes.
• Valid driver's license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Ability to read blueprints and coordinate with subcontractors.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications to plan procedures and staffing for each construction phase.
• Coordinate with Project Manager to determine project schedule and look-ahead milestones.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet schedules.
• Inform all parties of construction issues and progress; coordinate with supervisors, subs, and clients.
• Ensure work conforms to specifications, schedules, and budget; adjust plans as needed.
• Collaborate with Manager of Craft Resources on personnel movement and cost control.
• Prepare the Project Management Plan with the Project Manager.
• Enforce company safety, quality, and housekeeping standards.
