Job summary

Top Tempo Technical seeks a Junior Traveling Retrofit Technician to support retrofit, warranty, and field service on transit buses, including electric and zero-emission models. This role requires travel to customer sites across the U.S.

and hands-on work in the field by a mechanically minded technician. The ideal candidate will be independent, read technical instructions, and use hand and power tools, with safety around high-voltage systems a priority.

Qualifications

• Experienced mechanic or bus tech with field service/travel.
• Strong mechanical skills and problem-solving.
• Electrical experience a plus; high-voltage safety preferred.
• Able to read technical instructions and use diagnostic tools.
• Excellent communication and customer service.
• Willing to travel extensively across states and regions.
• Comfortable with computers, email, and digital documentation.

Responsibilities

• Travel to customer sites to perform retrofit and warranty work on transit buses.
• Install safety barriers and other bus components.
• Perform HVAC overhauls, repairs, and upgrades.
• Assist with propulsion and electric bus system updates.
• Adjust, repair, and troubleshoot bus doors and related components.
• Diagnose and resolve mechanical and electrical issues.
• Complete warranty repairs and address customer concerns.
• Inspect work for quality, fit, and safety.
• Follow instructions, procedures, and safety requirements.
• Gather measurements, photos, and field data and communicate findings.
