Job description

Trueline's client, a well-established electrical contractor with more than 55 years of experience serving industrial, commercial, and institutional clients, is seeking a Traveling Electrical Superintendent to join its growing field operations team. This is a 100% travel role for an experienced Journeyman Electrician who can lead crews, coordinate complex electrical work, and take ownership of major projects in the field.

You'll initially work alongside experienced field leadership to learn the company's systems and standards before taking full ownership of projects. This is an excellent opportunity for a seasoned electrical professional who enjoys being on the road, leading people, and building a long-term career with a growing contractor.

What You'll Do as the Traveling Electrical Superintendent:
  • Lead daily field operations on industrial, commercial, and institutional electrical construction projects
  • Oversee Foremen and electrical crews, with project teams potentially reaching 30-35 field employees
  • Supervise and develop field personnel while establishing clear expectations for safety, quality, productivity, and accountability
  • Coordinate manpower, tools, equipment, materials, and project priorities to keep work moving efficiently
  • Read and interpret MEP drawings, electrical plans, wiring diagrams, schematics, specifications, and submittals
  • Plan work activities around overall construction schedules and anticipate manpower and material needs
  • Coordinate closely with Project Managers, General Contractors, other trades, and field leadership
  • Oversee installation of feeders, branch conduit, switchgear, motor control centers, panels, lighting, power systems, fire alarm systems, and related electrical infrastructure
  • Monitor project progress and hold Foremen and crews accountable for production goals and quality standards
  • Troubleshoot electrical systems and resolve field issues before they affect schedule or production
  • Maintain compliance with NEC requirements and applicable state and local electrical codes
  • Lead jobsite safety expectations and ensure crews follow company and project safety requirements
  • Complete and oversee accurate daily reporting covering progress, materials, manpower, and field issues
  • Identify workforce needs and mentor Foremen, Journeymen, and developing field leaders
  • Travel full time to project sites as required
Must-Haves as the Traveling Electrical Superintendent:
  • State of Michigan Journeyman Electrician license or equivalent Journeyman license from another state
  • Significant electrical construction experience, with 15+ years strongly preferred
  • Proven Superintendent, Foreman, General Foreman, or comparable electrical field leadership experience
  • Experience supervising electrical crews and coordinating daily field production
  • Strong industrial or commercial electrical construction background
  • Ability to read and interpret construction documents, electrical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics
  • Strong working knowledge of the National Electrical Code
  • Experience with switchgear, motor control centers, conduit systems, panels, lighting, and power distribution
  • Strong manpower planning, scheduling, problem-solving, and troubleshooting skills
  • Excellent communication and leadership ability
  • Ability and willingness to travel 100% of the time
  • OSHA 10 certification
  • CPR/First Aid certification
  • Valid driver's license
Nice-to-Haves as the Traveling Electrical Superintendent:
  • 15-20 years of electrical construction experience
  • Significant industrial electrical construction experience
  • Experience overseeing multiple Foremen and large electrical crews
  • Experience leading project teams of approximately 30-35 field employees
  • OSHA 30 certification
  • Experience developing Foremen and other field leaders
  • Experience working on complex manufacturing, industrial, institutional, or critical infrastructure projects
  • Experience using digital construction reporting and project management tools
Our Client Offers:
  • Base salary of $70,000-$90,000, depending on experience
  • Hourly per diem while traveling
  • Monthly travel bonus
