Job summary

Layton Construction Company seeks an experienced Superintendent for a full-time traveling position supporting projects across Texas. The role oversees daily site operations, scheduling, procurement, and manpower, traveling with projects from start to finish.

The ideal candidate has a Bachelor’s in construction management plus 5+ years on ground-up commercial projects, with strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills. Valid driver’s license and ability to travel required.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in construction management or related field or equivalent.
• Preferably 5+ years' experience on ground-up commercial construction projects.
• Healthcare construction background a plus but not required.
• Valid driver’s license and ability to travel to project sites.
• Reads blueprints accurately; understands building codes and design requirements.
• Strong written and verbal communication; basic Spanish preferred.
• CMiC knowledge is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Plan procedures for construction based on start/finish times and staffing needs.
• Develop and use look-ahead schedules with the Project Manager.
• Coordinate pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager prior to mobilization.
• Direct procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Inspect work to ensure conformance to specifications and schedules.
• Manage labor costs by moving personnel between projects and assigning crews.
• Ensure safety, quality standards and housekeeping are maintained on site.
• Communicate progress with clients, subcontractors, and team; resolve issues as they arise.
