Job summary

Layton Construction is seeking a full-time traveling Superintendent to support projects across Texas. You will oversee daily site operations, scheduling, procurement, and labor coordination, guiding crews and subcontractors from start to finish.

The role requires strong leadership, travel readiness, and a solid understanding of construction processes. Responsibilities include coordinating with the Project Manager, managing look-ahead schedules, and ensuring safety, quality, and on-time delivery

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in construction management or related field, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Preferably 5+ years' experience working on ground-up commercial construction projects.
• Demonstrated knowledge of construction processes.
• Has a valid driver's license and is able to travel to and from the project site.
• Understands and applies building codes and reads blueprints accurately.

Responsibilities

• Plans procedures for construction based on specifications, starting times, and staffing requirements.
• Develops and utilizes look-ahead schedules to assess progress and upcoming issues.
• Coordinates pre-construction meetings with the Project Manager prior to mobilization.
• Directs procurement of tools and materials to meet work schedules.
• Keeps all parties informed of progress and construction issues; coordinates with supervisors, subs, and clients.
• Resolves issues with supervisory and engineering personnel to improve methods.
• Inspects work to ensure conformance with specifications and schedules.
• Manages project progress, materials used, and costs; adjusts schedules as needed.
• Moves personnel between projects to balance labor costs and staffing.
• Assists in preparing the Project Management Plan and ensures policy compliance.
