Job summary

Terracon seeks a Traveling Construction Materials Technician to perform testing, inspection, and supervision across multiple projects nationwide with 100% travel to Texas-based sites. You will read drawings, document findings, and communicate with engineers and project teams, maintaining high safety and quality standards on diverse projects.

Required certifications in materials testing, Geotechnical testing, and safety, with 2–4 years of relevant experience and the ability to travel extensively.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Associate degree in Civil Engineering Technology or Construction Engineering Technology preferred.
• NICET II certifications in Construction Materials Testing and Geotechnical areas.
• ICC certifications in structural-related disciplines.
• AWS CWI and ASNT Level II certifications.
• ACI certifications for field testing of concrete.
• Nuclear Density Gauge operation and radiation safety certifications.

Responsibilities

• Performs testing, observation, and inspection as directed in accordance with training and procedures.
• Read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.
• Provide clear documentation of findings and results.
• Perform basic data analysis before submission to the Project Manager.
• Communicate findings to the Project Manager and team.
• Draft inspection reports for review by senior inspectors and project managers.
• May assist senior inspectors on projects.
• Maintain equipment and calibration.
• Follow safety rules and pre-task planning; report safety issues.
• Maintain quality standards on all projects.
• Work independently with limited supervision and also in teams across locations.
• Adapt to changing project environments and diverse teams.
