Job summary

Modern Construction Services is hiring a Commercial General Superintendent to lead on-site construction activities across projects in North Carolina. This road-warrior role requires delivering high-quality work, coordinating subcontractors, and maintaining schedule and safety standards on site.

The ideal candidate has 10+ years in commercial construction supervision, strong leadership, and the ability to travel extensively while residing in North Carolina for project assignments.

Qualifications

• Minimum 10 years of experience as a commercial construction general superintendent.
• 5 years experience managing superintendents, coordinating with project managers, and developing field staff.
• Demonstrated ability to independently run a commercial construction project from start to finish.
• Strong knowledge of construction safety standards and subcontractor management.
• Proficiency with Procore and Microsoft Project.
• Excellent communication and organizational skills.
• Ability and willingness to travel — this is a traveling role with extended stays at project sites.

Responsibilities

• Site Management & Construction Oversight: Manage daily construction activities on-site in compliance with drawings, specs, and documents.
• Coordinate subcontractors and trade partners at the site level, including orientation, scheduling, and performance oversight.
• Maintain a safe and compliant job site and enforce safety protocols.
• Ensure quality control and verify installations meet required standards before acceptance.
• Develop and maintain the three-week look-ahead schedule and manage overall construction schedule.
• Coordinate deliveries, inspections, and milestones to keep the project on track.
• Project Closeout: manage punch lists and final inspections; organize turnover items.
• Communication & Reporting: report to VP of Construction, log progress and site conditions; represent company on-site.
