Job summary

Atlas is seeking a dedicated Construction Materials Testing technician to join our West Texas team. You will perform field testing, soil density testing, and concrete testing on complex infrastructure projects across Amarillo, Abilene, Lubbock and surrounding areas.

This role requires travel with occasional overnight or weekend work. A 2+ year CMT background, nuclear gauge safety training, and relevant certifications are highly valued; lifting of equipment and reporting duties are expected.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 2+ years of Construction Materials Testing (CMT) experience.
• Experience performing soil density testing using a nuclear density gauge.
• Completion of Nuclear Density Gauge Safety Training and HAZMAT certification.
• Experience performing concrete testing.
• ACI Concrete Field Testing Technician - Grade I.
• APNGA/HAZMAT Certification for Nuclear Density Gauges.
• TXAPA, NICET, or ICC Certifications (Reinforced Concrete & Soils) a Plus.
• OSHA 10 HR - A Plus.
• Experience in Quality Assurance/Quality Control.
• These sites are in remote locations so travel is high; full-time presence on site may be needed.

Responsibilities

• Performs field testing and inspections as directed by the CMT Manager and Senior Engineer.
• Travels to West Texas construction sites with potential overnight/weekend work.
• Performs soil density testing using a nuclear density gauge and follows radiation safety procedures.
• Conducts field concrete testing and sampling.
• Keeps project manager and engineer informed with limited in-field decisions.
• Delivers daily reports electronically and supports other departments as needed.
• Supports projects from proposal through completion to ensure scope, schedule, budget and quality objectives.
