Job summary

Waters of Fort Wayne is seeking a Traveling Cook Manager to lead culinary operations across multiple healthcare communities. You will provide hands-on leadership, support local kitchen teams, ensure quality dining experiences, and travel among facilities to uphold safety, sanitation, and resident-focused service.

You will cook and assist with menu execution, ensure dietary needs are met, train staff, and promote a hospitality-focused dining environment while maintaining company standards.

Qualifications

• Must have at least a high school education or equivalent.
• Two years dietary experience required.
• Experience with senior adults or healthcare populations preferred.
• Ability to cook a variety of foods in large quantities.
• ServSafe certification or equivalent food-safety credential.
• Certified Dietary Manager strongly preferred.
• Experience managing multiple culinary locations or traveling.
• Experience with inventory, purchasing, and menu management is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead Executive Chefs, Kitchen Managers, cooks and dining-service teams.
• Maintain consistent culinary standards across locations.
• Support openings, leadership transitions and staffing turnarounds.
• Ensure meals are nutritious, flavorful, properly portioned, and served correctly.
• Address dietary needs and modified diets for residents.
• Promote hospitality-focused dining honoring resident preferences and dignity.
• Monitor resident feedback and coordinate with leadership to address concerns.
• Provide hands-on training on cooking techniques, sanitation and menu execution.
• Enforce company policies and professional standards.
• Oversee inventory, purchasing, waste, and product utilization.
• Standardize ordering practices and vendor specifications.
• Identify opportunities to reduce waste and improve productivity.
• Maintain food safety, sanitation, hygiene, and kitchen cleanliness.
• Ensure compliance with health regulations and healthcare policies.
• Monitor proper storage, temperature, labeling, dating, and allergen management.
