Job summary

Oak View Group in Texas seeks a Traveling Chef to supervise and mentor kitchen staff, manage day-to-day operations, and ensure quality standards. This role requires flexibility for evenings and weekends and a professional, customer-focused approach.

The Traveling Chef will train employees, uphold food safety, coordinate schedules, and assist the Executive Chef with inventories and ordering. This part-time hourly position offers benefits and opportunities to impact guest experiences across events.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • Technical proficiency and experience in food preparation methods.
  • Ability to interact positively with diverse personalities; active listening & communication skills.
  • Ability to train, evaluate, motivate, coach, and counsel staff to achieve results.
  • Ability to distribute responsibilities to meet objectives and drive results.
  • Strong problem recognition and decisive decision-making.
  • Detail-oriented, multitasker with ability to prioritize in a changing environment.
  • Self-directed yet collaborative, able to work nights, weekends, and long hours.
  • Must be ServSafe certified and able to supervise personnel.
  • Commitment to excellent customer service and health and safety standards.
  • Ability to read and understand written information and review data efficiently.
  • Maintain concentration and adapt to rapidly changing events in cooking processes.

Responsibilities

  • Supervises all line setup, prep, and breakdown activities.
  • Assists Executive Chef with inventory, records, and food ordering.
  • Organizes employee work schedules and coverage for all kitchen areas.
  • Measure, mix and cook ingredients according to recipes.
  • Use diverse kitchen equipment to prepare and serve food.
  • Maintain a clean kitchen and eliminate debris at end of day.
  • Provide ongoing training and mentoring to kitchen staff.
  • Foster a positive, cooperative workplace and teamwork.
  • Ensure quality, consistency, and concept adherence in dishes.
  • Monitor food production against recipe specs and timing.
  • Ensure presentation, temperature, sanitation, and quality meet standards.
  • Communicate with supervisors and peers to ensure operations run smoothly.
  • Make decisions, organize, and prioritize work; solve problems.
