Traveling Account Manager Job Description - St. Louis, MO
Purpose
To efficiently maintain service levels to dealerships and fleet accounts in open territories.
Summary
Traveling Account Managers are ambassadors for the organization. Traveling the country, as needed, to ensure our customers do not experience a significant lapse in service in open territories. Proper execution of the role results in satisfied customers, leading to long-term business relationships that aid in anchoring the financial stability of the company. When not traveling, the person in this position is also expected to assist with general operational tasks such as training and equipment management.
Travel expectations of about 75%.
Duties Critical to Success
- Route Support
- The primary responsibility of this position will be traveling to CKE markets throughout the US to provide coverage of vacant Territories. These will include:
- Open positions
- Extended absences of assigned AM
- Providing additional support during Strategic Account launches
- Supporting special projects or sales initiatives
- Training support in designated markets for newly hired AMs
- Customer Service and Sales
- Maintain existing sales route of former employees
- Upsell accounts for additional business
- Professional demeanor with colleagues and customers
- Technical
- Proficient in cutting and programming
- Remaining up-to-date with the latest requirements for programming
Administrative
- Maintain accurate inventory counts
- Log all stops
- Proper invoicing and obtaining necessary signatures
- Logging sales exceptions
- Mailing returns or miscut keys weekly
- Completing necessary NASTF requirements
Maintenance
- Maintenance, care, and cleaning of company equipment
- Regular cleaning and maintenance of company service vehicle
Regulatory
- Adhere to locksmith laws (when applicable)
- Adhere to local and state traffic laws
- Follow company policies and procedures
Operations Tasks (when not traveling)
- Help with auditing vans
- Help with upfitting vans when things get behind
- Resolve Tickets
- Troubleshoot equipment (key machine diagnosis/repair)
- Driving New / Replacement Vans to any “down AM” within a reasonable distance
- Conducting Van Repossessions within a reasonable distance
- Assisting struggling New AM’s with Inventory Audits, Route Maintenance within a specified Distance
Abilities Critical to Success
- Capable. Required to learn existing and new technologies related to key programming
- Able to lift boxes up to 25 pounds and work extended periods outdoors
- Communication. Relays information to corporate that allows Account Managers to perform the role effectively
- Attentive. Focused on servicing customers, vehicles, and operating the company vehicle
Deliverables
- 3 weeks of travel to support vacant Territories per month
- 8-hour work days
- 100% inventory accuracy
Key Functional and Relational Responsibilities
- Lead Technicians - training, industry trends
- Regional Sales Managers - new opportunities and route building
- Operations - field support, software updates, equipment, inventory and hardware repair
- Relations to supervisory and subordinate roles within the company
Job specifications, standards, and requirements
- 21 years of age
- Valid driver’s license
- Excellent driving record
- High School degree or equivalent
- Strong automotive technical skills
- Strong computer skills
- Excellent verbal communication skills
- Preferred 1 - 2 years commission-based sales experience
- Professional demeanor and appearance
- Safe place to park a company van during non-work hours
