American Traveler is seeking a Surgical Technologist with Level 1 or 2 trauma experience for a busy hospital OR handling a wide range of surgical service lines.

The role requires travel experience (1–2 assignments), BLS certification from the American Heart Association, and VA state registration or licensure if applicable. It involves a high-volume, around-the-clock OR with rotating shifts and weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• Travel assignments completed (1–2); first-time travelers not considered.
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association is required.
• VA state registration is required at consideration.

Responsibilities

• Work in a large 28-room hospital OR, 24/7/365 operations.
• Handle 70–85 cases per day with 7–8 ORs active on Saturdays and 5–6 on Sundays.
• Service lines include orthopedics, general surgery, robotics, transplants, ENT, vascular and pediatrics.
• Adult and pediatric patients; neonatal and pediatric case experience preferred.
• Use Epic EMR and participate in a self-scheduling team.

American Traveler seeks a Surgical Technologist with Level 1 or 2 trauma experience for a busy hospital OR handling a wide range of surgical service lines.

Requirements

• Prior travel assignment experience required (at least 1-2 completed assignments); first-time travelers will not be considered
• BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• VA state registration required at the time of consideration

• Trauma experience preferred
• Neonatal and pediatric surgical experience preferred

Responsibilities

• Work in a large 28-room hospital operating room running 24/7/365
• Handles 70-85 cases per day, with 7-8 ORs active on Saturdays and 5-6 on Sundays for mostly urgent and some scheduled weekend cases
• Service lines include orthopedics (including total joints and OTT), general surgery, robotics, organ transplants (kidney), ENT, oral/maxillofacial, vascular/thoracic, urology, and pediatrics
• Adult and pediatric patient population with neonatal and pediatric case experience preferred
• Uses Epic EMR
• Dayshift schedule with a mix of 8-hour (0700-1530) and 12-hour (0700-1930) shifts, with varying days and no set schedule
• Rotates to night shifts on a PRN basis as needed
• Team self-schedules for shifts and call coverage
• Weekend requirement of 2-3 shifts per 6-week schedule (Saturday or Sunday)
• Call requirement of approximately 5-6 shifts (4 hours each) per 6-week schedule, averaging up to 24 hours, split between 2-3 weekday and 2-3 weekend shifts
• Holiday and night rotation as needed by the unit, with at least 1 holiday worked per assignment
• Scrubs are provided
• Support a high-volume surgical department across a broad range of specialties and patient populations
• Work alongside a self-scheduling team responsible for coordinating shifts and call coverage
