Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a CVOR position in a Level II Trauma Center. Requires 2 years CVOR experience, Level I/II trauma background, BLS, and graduation from an accredited surgical technology program; CST certification preferred.

You'll join a 2- tech OR model with 1:1 patient care, and may float to the Main OR. On-call duties include overnights and weekends, with access to Epic, Omnicell, and Alaris systems.

Qualifications

2 years CVOR experience required.
Level I or II trauma experience required.
BLS certification required.
Graduation from an accredited surgical technology program required.
CST certification preferred.
Associate degree in healthcare related field or CST certification required.
License required if applicable.
Experience with CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, robotic thoracic cases, generator exchanges, lead extractions, cardiac organ procurement, and fem-pop bypass required.

Responsibilities

Hospital surgical services department in a Level II Trauma Center with Level III NICU and Level II Pediatric Trauma designation.
Unit includes 2 ORs, 20 Pre-Op bays, and 14 PACU bays.
Cardio and thoracic surgery caseload including CABG, TAVR, valve replacements, thoracic robotic cases (lobectomy, hernia repair), generator exchanges, lead extractions, cardiac organ procurement, fem-pop bypass, open vascular cases, AAA, carotids, and conversions.
1:1 OR patient ratio.
May float to Main OR.
Uses Epic charting system, Omnicell, and Alaris equipment.
8 or 10 hour shifts, schedule to be determined during interview.
On-call required, including one overnight per week (7p-7a) and every 3rd weekend.
On-call response time of 15 minutes with sleep room provided in Pre-Op/PACU area.
Potential to work every holiday.
Work within a 2-tech model where both techs scrub in, set up, and drape for each case.
Primary tech hands instruments while second tech provides support to surgeon and team.
Staff rotate routinely through both tech positions.
Support team includes RN/First Assist/Surg Tech, Nurse Clinician, CRN, Service Line Leads, HUC, Scheduler, Preference Card Analyst, and Anesthesia.
Facility orientation consists of 5 eight-hour days.
Scrubs are provided.
Free parking available.
First-time travelers will be considered.
Candidates must live more than 100 miles from the facility.
Permanent staff must wait one full year before returning as a traveler.
Time off requests require manager approval.
