Responsibilities

• Hospital-based Same Day Surgery OR setting.
• Day shift 4x10 hour shifts from 6:30 AM to 5:00 PM, including late days.
• General OR with diverse case types across specialties (gynecology, plastics, orthopedics, urology, ENT, endoscopic).
• First-time travelers will be considered for this position.
• Support a variety of surgical procedures in a same-day surgery environment.
• Maintain sterile fields and assist with instrument and supply preparation for diverse case types.
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocol time-out procedures.
• Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprinting required after offer, lifelong background checks.
• Local candidates accepted at the same pay rate.
• Former employees may travel after 6 months away.
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions.
• Submit RTO with the application, limited to 7 days or less.

Job description

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist required
• BLS certification required
• License required if applicable
• Education must be from an ACEN or CCNE accredited program
• Experience with aseptic technique, instrument processing, isolation precautions/PPE, sterilization/disinfection, and universal protocol (time out) procedures
• Familiarity with surgical equipment including electrosurgical units, drills, case carts, crash carts, and fiber optic light sources/cords
• Experience assisting with a broad range of surgical specialties including gynecology, plastics, podiatry, general surgery, orthopedics, urology, ENT, and endoscopic procedures
• 2 professional references required, with at least 1 from a Manager/Director or formal leadership role and the second from a Charge RN or higher (no coworker references accepted)

• Maintain sterile fields and assist with instrument and supply preparation for diverse case types
• Participate in surgical site verification and universal protocol time-out procedures
• Candidates must complete Ohio BCI and FBI fingerprinting as soon as possible after accepting an offer, including lifetime background checks
• Local candidates are accepted at the same pay rate
• Former employees are eligible for a travel assignment after being away from the facility for 6 months or more
• Current employees of any Ohio State University hospital location are ineligible for traveler positions
• Requested RTO must be submitted with the application and built into the contract, limited to 7 days or less
