Job summary

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical First Assist for an acute care OR unit in Minnesota, requiring 3+ years CST experience and expertise in general and orthopedic total joint procedures. NP exposure includes trauma and plastics; travel flexibility a plus.

Shifts are 0645–1515, with on-call and weekend rotations; scrub and assist roles may alternate. Cerner EMR is used; travelers must reside within 100 miles of the facility.

Qualifications

• Licensed or certified CSFA (NBSTSA) with active credential.
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC) required
• Minimum 3 years CST experience required
• Experience in general surgery and orthopedic total joints required
• Experience in Trauma Level 3/4 and/or Critical Access Hospitals preferred

Responsibilities

• Acute care OR with 7 surgical suites.
• Average of 5-25 cases per day.
• Procedures include general, orthopedic, plastics, podiatry, eye, and OB/GYN/women's health (non-cancer).
• Cerner EMR used; 0645-1515 shifts, 5 days/week.
• On-call rotations: weeknights 1-2x, weekends 1-2x/month; 30 min call response.

American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical First Assist for an acute care OR unit with 3 years of CST experience and expertise in general and orthopedic total joint procedures.

Requirements

• License required if applicable
• BLS certification (AHA or ARC)
• Certified Surgical First Assist (CSFA) via NBSTSA required
• Minimum 3 years of CST experience required
• Experience in general surgery and orthopedic total joints required
• Experience in similarly sized facilities, Trauma Level 3 & 4, and/or Critical Access Hospitals required
• Plastics experience preferred
• Comfortable transitioning between scrubbing and assisting roles preferred

Responsibilities

• Acute care operating room with 7 surgical suites
• Average of 5-25 cases per day
• Common procedures include general surgery, orthopedic/sports medicine, plastics and cosmetics, podiatry, cataracts/eye procedures, and OB/GYN/women's health (non-cancer related)
• Cerner EMR used
• 5 8-hour day shifts per week, 0645-1515
• Late stay rotations and on-call rotations with block scheduling
• Weeknight call required 1-2x/week, typically M-F with 15.5 hrs of call
• Weekend call required 1-2x/month, 24-hour shifts Sat 0645-Sun 0645
• Holiday call rotation may be required, including day before/after the holiday and surrounding weekend if applicable
• Call response time of 30 minutes
• May float to PAA/PACU or sterile processing as needed
• Rural community hospital offering a wide variety of surgical cases
• Scrubs provided by facility and must not be worn outside the building
• Unit-specific orientation includes 1-2 shifts with a preceptor and 1-2 call shifts with a preceptor
• Travelers are expected to be flexible and help fill scheduling gaps as determined by the manager
• Candidates must reside within 100 miles of the facility
