American Traveler seeks a Certified Surgical Technologist for a Level 3 Trauma Center operating room, requiring prior OR travel experience and proficiency across multiple surgical specialties.

Requirements

• Minimum of 2 years of experience required
• NBSTSA Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) certification required
• Active BLS certification from the American Heart Association
• Active ACLS certification from the American Heart Association
• License required if applicable
• Epic EMR experience required
• Proficiency in spine procedures required
• Proficiency in orthopedic procedures required
• Proficiency in general surgery procedures required
• Proficiency in robotic surgery procedures required
• Proficiency in ENT procedures required
• Proficiency in gynecology procedures required
• Prior travel experience in the OR required
• Iowa Mandatory Reporter certification required
• One supervisory reference/performance evaluation from within the last two years required
• Valid driver's license required for consideration

Responsibilities

• Operating Room unit at a Level 3 Trauma Center
• 5x8-hour day shifts, typically starting around 6:15am with possible variation based on caseload
• On-call requirements of 8-10 days within a 6-week period starting after shift, Monday-Friday
• Weekend on-call requirements of 4-5 weekend days per month (Friday-Sunday)
• Holiday on-call coverage required
• May be asked to float within the same discipline across local campuses
• Uses Epic EMR
• Contribute professional and clinical knowledge as part of an interdisciplinary surgical team
• Provide and manage patient care across a variety of surgical specialties including spine, orthopedics, general, robotics, ENT, and gynecology
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility to be eligible
• Local candidates within 50 miles are not eligible for this position
• Past UnityPoint Health employees (FTE or PRN float pool) may be restricted from travel assignments at other UPH markets within 12 months of separation
• Travelers are required to work 2 of the 3 winter holidays (Christmas, New Year's, or Thanksgiving)
• Limited time-off requests permitted during peak holiday periods in late November and late December
