Job summary

Ashford Connex, LLC seeks a traveling field technician to test and maintain high-voltage substation equipment across the Midwest. This home-based role covers sites near Chicago, Springfield, IL, Madison, WI, and Green Bay, WI with up to 100% travel.

Responsibilities include testing, troubleshooting, and commissioning HV systems up to 765 kV, switchgear, transformers, and associated control schemes. Requires hands-on HV experience and willingness to travel; NETA preferred.

Qualifications

• Hands-on substation experience (69–345 kV) with relays, breakers, transformers and controls.
• Military power-production training is a plus.
• Willingness to travel up to 100% with per diem.

Responsibilities

• Test, troubleshoot and commission LV through HV systems, up to 765 kV.
• Test switchgear and breakers, including SF6 gas breakers and GIS.
• Inspect, test and repair transformers, from small units up to large power transformers.
• Run power factor and other HV test sets, and test cable installations.
• Commission and troubleshoot control and transfer schemes.
