Job summary

RON SUNSHINE ASSOCIATES LLC is seeking a traveling field technician to test, troubleshoot and commission high-voltage substation equipment across the Midwest. The role is home-based with travel to sites near Chicago/ Springfield IL or Madison/Green Bay WI, up to 100%.

Responsibilities include testing HV systems up to 765 kV, switchgear, transformers and GIS, plus per diem and overtime. A valid driver's license and NETA eligibility are required or preferred.

Qualifications

• HV/substation testing experience is required or strongly preferred.
• NE TA Level II-IV preferred; military training is a plus.
• Must be willing to travel up to 100% with per diem.

Responsibilities

• Test, troubleshoot and commission LV through HV systems up to 765 kV.
• Test switchgear and breakers, including SF6 gas breakers and GIS.
• Inspect, test and repair transformers from small units to large power transformers.
• Run HV test sets and test cable installations.
• Commission and troubleshoot control and transfer schemes.
