Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Stepdown RN for a day shift in Florence, SC with 2+ years of ICU or stepdown experience. Active SC or compact RN license required, with BLS and ACLS. NIHSS preferred. You will float within scope and cover 3x12 shifts, 7a-7p, every other weekend.

You'll join a team using Epic charting, caring for stepdown cardiac, neuro and respiratory patients. Travel nurses with prior ICU/stepdown are welcome; housing and travel perks provided.

Qualifications

• Active SC RN license or compact license in hand prior to start.
• BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of recent nursing experience.
• Prior ICU and/or Stepdown experience required.
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• Skilled in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, and blood product administration.
• Experience with cardiac telemetry monitoring and dysrhythmia management preferred.
• Experience with respiratory care including ventilated patients and tracheostomy management preferred.
• Social Security Number required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Stepdown unit within a hospital setting
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 7a-7p
• Every other weekend required
• Holiday rotation required
• No on‑call requirements
• Floating required within scope to meet facility needs, same as staff expectations
• Uses Epic charting system
• Provide direct patient care to stepdown‑level cardiac, neuro, and respiratory patients
• Royal blue scrubs required
• First‑time travelers considered if they have prior ICU or Stepdown experience
• Previous MUSC perm or PRN staff must be separated from the system for at least 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Local candidates not accepted; must reside outside a 60-mile radius
• Non-local candidates are prioritized for this position
• All requested time off must be submitted in advance and is subject to facility approval
• During hurricane season (June through November), all staff may be assigned to emergency response teams
• Free parking available on-site
