Cross Country Nurses is seeking a travel nurse RN Stepdown for a travel nursing job in Kearney, Nebraska.

Job Summary

Step Down Unit Registered Nurse (RN) Nights location unspecified. This role involves providing care to adult patients with various diagnoses including cardiac, sepsis, stroke, renal failure, and post-surgical recovery. The RN will be responsible for managing titratable drips, interpreting telemonitor strips, and ensuring optimal patient outcomes on a 12-hour night shift schedule.

Job Details

Schedule: 12-hour nights shifts, with a minimum of 36 hours per week. Contract duration from 10/12/2026 to 01/25/2027.

Required Qualifications

• Valid RN license
• BLS (Basic Life Support)
• ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support)
• NIHSS (National Institute of Health Stroke Scale)
• 2 years of relevant experience

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience with arterial lines
• Telemonitor reading and interpretation
• Experience caring for diverse patient populations including Hispanic and Somali

Additional Information

The unit has 40 beds with an average daily census of 24. Patient ratios are 1:4-5 during both days and nights. The RN will manage titratable drips such as Heparin, Nitro, Dopamine, Cardizem, Amiodarone, and insulin, and address high flow therapy beyond troubleshooting. The role includes float requirements to medical-surgical or ICU units to manage acuity levels. Adaptability, teamwork, good communication skills, and willingness to learn are essential. Orientation includes one day of unit-specific training. The unit is equipped with overhead lifts, portable lifts, vein finders, bladder scanners, and high-flow therapy devices. RNs must read and interpret telemetry strips and follow hospital protocols with focus on patient experience and safety.
