Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced registered nurse for a Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit in Michigan. The role requires cardiac proficiency, an active Michigan RN license, and BLS/ACLS.

You will work 7:00 PM–7:00 AM on a 28-bed unit with every other weekend, potential on-call, and opportunities to float to similar units. The unit offers structured orientation and a Beacon Award-recognized team. Local candidates within 35 miles are favored.

Qualifications

• Active MI RN license required; compact license not accepted.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications.
• Minimum 1+ year of Stepdown experience.
• Proficiency in cardiac care.
• EKG comfortability.
• LARA and Nysys license verification required.
• Skills checklist completed within one year of application

Responsibilities

• Work in the CVU-Stepdown/Progressive Care Unit, a 28-bed Medical Surgical Unit.
• Diverse patient population including general and vascular surgery, bariatric surgery, plastic surgery, trauma, and stroke patients.
• Night shift schedule, 7:00 PM-7:00AM, 12-hour shifts.
• Required to work every other weekend.
• Possible on-call requirements.
• Must be willing to float to similar units.
• Provide clinical nursing care within a collaborative Interdisciplinary Care Team using clinical pathways and patient education.
• Unit supports new team members with structured orientation and an active Unit Based Council promoting shared governance.
• Unit has received Beacon Award recognition and AACN redesign distinction.
• Facility enforces a strict attendance policy allowing no more than 3 absences or late arrivals.
• Local candidates considered, with local traveler status applied within a 35 mile radius of the facility.
• No more than 5 days of requested time off (RTO) allowed.
• First-time travelers may be considered
