Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Progressive Care Unit/Float role in Washington. Requires WA or compact RN license, at least 3 years of RN experience, and prior charge nurse responsibilities. BLS (ACLS/NIHSS preferred) and telemetry experience are essential.

Position includes night shifts (4x12), potential charge nurse duties on small units, and floating between facilities. Travel benefits include housing allowances and licensure reimbursements.

Qualifications

• Active WA or compact RN license required in hand at submission.
• Minimum of 3 years RN experience required.
• Previous charge nurse experience required.
• Must have experience working in the US; Canadian experience alone does not qualify.
• BLS required; ACLS and NIHSS preferred.
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown, and general telemetry care.
• IV therapy and phlebotomy skills including central and peripheral line care, blood product administration, and PICC line management.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia management, and rapid response/code team participation.
• Two supervisory references covering 1 year of employment within the last 3 years required.
• Full SSN and DOB required for consideration.

Responsibilities

• Short term acute care hospital setting on a PCU/Step-down float team supporting needs across the institution.
• Patient population may include ER boarded patients, telemetry, and med-surg cases.
• Nurse to patient ratios vary from 1:4-6 depending on unit acuity.
• Night shift, 4x12 hours, 19:00-07:30.
• May include charge nurse responsibilities on select small units staffed with 1-2 RNs supported by LPNs and CNAs, including managing staffing needs, bed flow, and coordination.
• Floating required between sister facilities near the contracted site.
• Uses Epic EMR
• Provide direct patient care across varying units based on institutional needs as part of a float team.
• Serve as charge nurse on select small units, overseeing staffing, bed flow, and shift coordination when assigned.
• Must commit to working 3 of the 5 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, New Year’s Eve, New Year’s Day).
• All RTO and scheduling requests must be submitted upfront; post-offer RTO requests may not be accommodated.
• Local candidates accepted at a lower bill rate within a 50-mile radius
• Former permanent employees may return as travelers after a 3-month waiting period, provided they reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility
• Candidates must disclose any prior work history with Providence facilities, including permanent, travel, or per-diem roles
• First-time travelers are not preferred for this assignment.
