Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) in Illinois. Active IL RN license and telemetry/cardiac care experience are required.

The travel assignment requires BLS, ACLS, NIHSS certifications, Epic EMR experience, and at least 1 year of recent PCU or telemetry experience.

Shift: 4x12 night hours (19:00–07:30) with 1:4 patient ratios; no on-call. Travel nurses must live more than 70 miles away and may have winter holiday coverage.

Qualifications

• Active IL RN license required.
• Current BLS/ACLS/NIHSS certifications.
• Minimum 1 year of recent telemetry/cardiac care experience.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.
• Epic EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Work in the Progressive Care Unit (PCU) of a hospital setting.
• Care for cardiac telemetry, COPD, CAD, CHF, AFib, sepsis and COVID cases.
• Maintain patient ratio of 1:4.
• Night shift schedule: 4x12 hours, 19:00-07:30, with 3x12 or 4x12 schedules accepted.
• Work Monday through Thursday with occasional weekend shifts.
• No on-call expectation.
• Provide cardiac monitoring and telemetry care with emergency response for PCU patients.
• Must be able to work 2 of 4 winter holidays depending on scheduling needs.
• Navy scrubs required.
• First-time travelers accepted.
• Candidates must live more than 70 miles from the facility to be considered.
• Clinicians cannot work past 1 year as a traveler at this facility and must take a 6-month break before returning.

Requirements

• Active IL RN license required
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS
• Minimum 1 year of recent experience required
• Prior travel nursing experience required
• Epic charting system experience required
• Skills required include telemetry monitoring, starting IVs, chest tubes, cardiac drips, and bedside cardioversion
• Experience managing dysrhythmias and cardiac emergency response required
• Community hospital experience preferred
• Previous charge experience preferred
