Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PCU position in Colorado. 1-2 years PCU/critical care experience and a CO or compact RN license are required, with BLS/ACLS and NIHSS certifications. The role features a 19:00–07:00 night schedule, 12-bed PCU, 1:3 patient ratio, and Epic charting.

Local candidates within 75 miles are eligible at local bill rate; travel specifics apply. Responsibilities include continuous cardiac telemetry, rapid response participation, and unit/module

Qualifications

• Active CO or compact RN license required.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• AHA NIHSS certification required.
• CPI certification preferred.
• 1-2 years of PCU or critical care experience required.
• Epic charting experience required.
• Experience with arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, and IV therapy/phlebotomy.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and titration of cardiac/vasoactive drips.
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tubes, high flow nasal cannula, and ABG interpretation.
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE.
• Experience with cardiac procedures including pacemakers, pre/post cardiac cath, and post MI care preferred.
• Experience with neurological/psychiatric conditions such as CVA, intracranial bleeds, seizure disorders, and substance withdrawal preferred.

Responsibilities

• PCU unit with 12 total staffed beds.
• Nights shift, 3x12 hours (19:00-7:00), various days of the week.
• 1:3 patient ratio.
• Uses Epic charting system.
• Weekend shifts required per unit needs.
• Floating required within scope to like units per facility needs.
• Navy blue scrubs required.
• Provide care to progressive care/stepdown patients requiring continuous cardiac telemetry monitoring.
• Participate in use of Rapid Response/Code teams as needed.
• Complete all facility-specific modules within the first week of assignment.
• First-time travelers accepted provided experience requirements are met.
• Local candidates residing within 75 miles of the facility accepted at local bill rate.
• Candidates previously employed by UCHealth or its affiliates must disclose this information for eligibility review.
• Candidates who applied to UCHealth's internal travel jobs or perm staff within the last two years are not eligible for consideration.
• Returning travelers who completed a full year on assignment must wait at least one year before rebooking.
• Maximum of 10 RTO days approved per 13-week contract, with blackout periods during peak census times.
• No blocked scheduling requests permitted.
