Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. seeks an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) with telemetry skills in a Level I trauma teaching hospital. Night shifts are 3x12s (18:45–07:15) with 1:5 ratios and regular floating between departments.

Candidate must hold MO/KS or compact RN licensure, BLS, NIHSS, and have 2+ years of recent specialty experience, including a recent year with no gaps >90 days. Navy scrubs and travel reimbursement are provided.

Qualifications

• > Active RN licensure in MO and KS or compact in hand.
• > Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required.
• > Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience, incl. past 12 months w/o >90 days gaps.
• > Teaching hospital experience required.
• > Level I trauma hospital experience required.
• > Experience with telemetry, MS/Tele, neuro stepdown, PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings.
• > Skills include dysrhythmia management, IV insulin protocols, central/PICC care, blood product administration, PCA, post-TPA care, isolation precautions.
• > Charge RN experience preferred.
• > Two references from a supervisor and a charge RN within past year.

Responsibilities

• 20-bed Intermediate/Progressive Care Unit in a Level I trauma teaching hospital.
• Patient population includes pulmonary, liver/liver failure, oncology, wound, urology, general cardiac, neuro, renal, and diabetic teaching.
• 1:5 patient ratio on all shifts.
• Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (18:45-07:15).
• Weekend requirement of at least 8 shifts within a 6-week period.
• Regular floating between departments/units/facilities as needed.
• No on-call requirements.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Provide intermediate nursing care supporting throughput from ED/OR/ regional transfers.
• Unit hosts student nurses for rotations.
• Navy scrubs required.
• Floating to meet facility needs.

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) position requiring telemetry skills and both Missouri and Kansas or compact RN licensure.

Requirements

• Active RN license - both Missouri and Kansas licenses or compact license required in hand
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required
• Minimum 2 years of recent specialty experience required, including a full year within the past 12 months with no employment gaps greater than 90 days
• Teaching hospital experience required
• Level I trauma hospital experience required
• Experience with cardiac telemetry, MS/Tele, neuro stepdown, and PCU/DOU/IMC/Stepdown settings required
• Skills required include interpretation and management of dysrhythmias, on-unit telemetry monitoring, use of rapid response/code teams, IV insulin protocols, feeding tube care, continuous bladder irrigation, pre/post hemodialysis management, renal failure and transplant care, TURP, accessing/managing ports, blood product administration, central/peripheral/PICC line care, IV starts, heparin protocols, cardiac drip management (no titration), PCA, CVA and post-TPA care, substance withdrawal management, oxygen administration, isolation precautions/PPE, and wound care/wound vac
• Charge RN experience preferred
• Two professional references required, one from a supervisor or above and one from a charge RN, both from within the past year

• Unit frequently hosts student nurses for clinical rotations
• Navy scrubs required
• Floating between departments, units, and facilities may be required to meet facility needs
• Candidates must reside more than 75 miles from the facility to be considered
• Maximum of 7 days RTO permitted, all RTO must be finalized at time of submission
• Returning staff must have at least an 18-month gap with a 3-month break in service before reapplying
• Former permanent employees of BJC or Saint Luke's must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• Travel partners are not accepted
