Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Progressive Care Unit (PCU) travel position in North Carolina. The role requires 2+ years of acute care experience with cardiac rhythm recognition, BLS/ACLS/PALS, and an active NC or Compact license.

Responsibilities include care for adults and geriatrics in a 12-bed PCU, 4:1 patient ratio, and rhythm monitoring with cardiac drips management. Night shifts 7p-7a, every other weekend, and potential floating to med/surg/ED-ICU as needed.

Qualifications

• Active RN license (NC or Compact)
• 2+ years of acute care hospital experience
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• PCCN certification preferred
• Cardiac drip management and rhythm monitoring

Responsibilities

• Work in a 12-bed Progressive Care Stepdown unit in a hospital setting
• Care for adult and geriatric patients (CHF, COPD, A-fib RVR)
• Patient ratio of 4:1
• Use standard unit equipment (computers on wheels, IV pumps, poles) and Paragon EHR
• Night shift 7p–7a; every other weekend; call requirements apply
• Floating to med/surg and ED/ICU overflow to PCU or lower acuity patients
• Provide cardiac drip management and rhythm monitoring
• Must be proactive, outgoing, and team-oriented
• Scrub color navy blue or black
• Reside 60 miles or greater from facility for travel assignment
• Cannot have worked as permanent LifePoint staff within last 12 months
• Cannot be employed elsewhere full-time

Requirements

• Active RN license (NC or Compact) currently in hand
• Current certifications: BLS, ACLS, and PALS
• Minimum 2 years of acute care hospital experience required
• Associate Degree in Nursing (AND) required
• PCCN certification preferred
• Skilled in cardiac rhythm recognition and management of cardiac drips such as Cardizem and Amiodarone
• NIHSS certification preferred

• Work in a 12-bed Progressive Care Stepdown Transitional unit within a hospital setting
• Adult and geriatric patient population with common diagnoses including CHF, COPD, and A-fib RVR
• Patient ratio of 4:1
• Standard unit equipment including computers on wheels, IV pumps, and poles
• Uses Paragon EHR
• Night shift schedule from 7p-7a
• Required to work every other weekend
• Call requirements apply
• Floating required to med/surg and ED/ICU overflow to care for PCU or lower acuity patients
• Provide nursing care for progressive care and stepdown transitional patients, including cardiac drip management and rhythm monitoring
• Proactive, outgoing, team-oriented personality valued in this role
• Scrub color requirement: navy blue or black
• Must reside 60 miles or greater from the facility to be considered for travel assignment
• Candidates may not have worked as permanent staff at any LifePoint facility within the last 12 months
• Candidates must not be employed elsewhere full-time
