Job summary

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN for a 7p-7a night shift telemetry step-down position in Kentucky. Requires an active, unrestricted KY or compact RN license and BLS/ACLS certification. ADN or ASN required; BSN preferred. No prior nursing experience required, though prior experience is preferred.

You will care for a 26-bed unit with a 4-5:1 patient ratio, manage critical drips, and support admissions, transfers, discharges, and ongoing care coordination with the care team.

Qualifications

• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• ADN or ASN required, BSN preferred
• Ability to assess age-specific patient safety issues

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care on telemetry and step-down patients
• Monitor vitals and patient safety with a 4-5:1 nurse-to-patient ratio
• Coordinate admissions, transfers, and discharges
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities
• Promote a positive, healing environment through evidence-based nursing

Job description

American Traveler is hiring a Progressive Care Unit RN for a night shift telemetry step-down position requiring a KY or compact RN license and BLS/ACLS certification.

Requirements

• Active, unrestricted KY or compact RN license
• Current BLS and ACLS certification
• ADN or ASN required, BSN preferred
• No prior nursing experience required, though previous experience is preferred
• Ability to assess age-specific patient safety issues and implement appropriate safety measures
• Strong communication and collaboration skills with the care team

Responsibilities

• 26-bed progressive care unit with all private rooms
• Step-down unit from ICU with all patients on telemetry and heart monitors
• Nurse to patient ratio of 4-5:1
• Manages critical drips and a range of conditions including GI bleed, COVID, and respiratory distress
• 3x12 night shift schedule, 7p-7a
• 36 hours per week, 0.9 FTE
• Weekend and holiday rotation required
• Provide direct patient care including assessments, treatments, and care coordination for telemetry and step-down patients
• Facilitate admission, transfer, and discharge activities including patient and family education
• Delegate and oversee tasks performed by other care team members
• Participate in unit-based quality improvement activities such as monitoring for falls, pressure ulcers, and CAUTIs
• Promote a positive, healing environment through evidence-based nursing practice
