Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an RN for an IMC/Telemetry Stepdown unit in Wisconsin. Requires at least 1 year of RN experience and current ACLS/BLS and EKG certification.

Responsibilities include monitoring and titrating drips on a 30-bed unit, 1:4 patient ratios, collaboration with charge RNs, telemetry techs, and respiratory therapy staff; night shift 19:00–07:00, some weekends.

Qualifications

• Active WI state or compact RN license required.
• Current ACLS and BLS certification (AHA) required.
• EKG course certification required.
• Minimum 1 year of relevant RN experience required.
• Experience managing IV nitro, heparin, diltiazem, and amiodarone required.
• Post cath lab experience beneficial but not required.

Responsibilities

• Acute care Stepdown unit (IMC/Tele) with 30 beds.
• Patient ratios of 1-4, stretching to 5 with sick calls or added CNA support.
• Common diagnoses include cardiac conditions, NSTEMI, post cath lab, afib, CHF, GI bleed, detox, respiratory distress, and sepsis.
• RNs manage and titrate drips including nitro, diltiazem, insulin, heparin, and amiodarone.
• Uses RT equipment such as CPAP, BiPAP, and Optiflow.
• Tele/monitor techs are present on the unit and read strips using GE monitors.
• Charge RN carries an assignment of 2 patients.
• Nurse aide support available at ratios of 1-10/12 depending on census.
• Night shift schedule, 1900-0700 Monday through Thursday, no weekends.
• Every other weekend and every other holiday rotation required.
• Floating required to MS or IMC overflow/ICU.
• On-call or standby requirement applies.
• Uses Cerner EMR, currently transitioning to Epic.
• Provide direct patient care on a cardiac stepdown/telemetry unit managing complex titratable drips.
• Collaborate with charge RNs, tele techs, and respiratory therapy staff.
