American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a Direct Observation Unit (DOU) in Knoxville. This acute care role requires Cerner EMR proficiency and at least 2 years of comparable acuity experience, with an active TN or compact RN license in hand.

Night shift is 3x12 hours (19:00–07:00) with every other weekend. First-time travelers are welcome; housing and travel reimbursements are provided, along with employer-paid benefits and a strong orientation program.

Qualifications

• Active, unencumbered TN or compact RN license required at time of consideration.
• BLS certification required; NIHSS preferred.
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience in a comparable acuity hospital setting.
• Cerner EMR charting experience required.
• Teaching hospital and Trauma Level I experience preferred.
• Skills in IV therapy, central/peripheral line care, PICC line management, and blood product administration.
• Respiratory care skills including BiPAP/CPAP, chest tube management, and ABG interpretation.
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and cardiac drip management.
• Neurological/psychiatric care including CVA, seizures, and withdrawal.
• Wound care/wound vac, isolation precautions/PPE knowledge.
• Two references required for consideration.

Responsabilités

• Complex Medical Unit with telemetry/medical-surgical focus.
• Patient ratios typically 1:6, based on need.
• Night shift schedule 19:00–07:00; 3x12 hours.
• Every other weekend required.
• No on-call requirements.
• Block scheduling based on staffing needs; travel pairs allowed.
• Provide direct patient care in a complex medical acute care unit with telemetry.
• Pass a basic dysrhythmia interpretation and medication test during orientation.
• Complete orientation and annual training modules.

• Facility will try to accommodate block scheduling based on patient and unit needs
• Provide direct patient care in a complex medical acute care unit with a focus on telemetry monitoring
• Must pass a basic dysrhythmia interpretation test and medication test during orientation
• Completion of orientation and annual training modules required
• Entire weeks during holidays are not approved for time off; individual dates are negotiable based on staffing needsFirst-time travelers are welcome to apply
