Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Telemetry RN for night shift in Tyler, Texas, on a 36-bed telemetry unit (5 North). The role features a 1:5-6 patient ratio, 3x12-hour nights, and Epic charting. Eligible candidates have an active TX or Compact RN license, 2+ years of RN experience, travel background, BLS/NIHSS, and ACLS.

NIHSS preferred if not held. Epic charting familiarity is a plus. Candidates must be prepared for a travel assignment with housing and other stipends typically included in travel

Description

American Traveler is hiring a Telemetry RN for a night shift cardiac unit position requiring travel experience and Epic charting familiarity.

Details

• Work on a 36 private-room Telemetry unit (5 North) serving young adult through geriatric patients
• Priority admissions include patients recovering from cardiac interventions such as cardiac surgery, coronary artery stent placement, and pacemaker implant
• Unit also admits hemodynamically stable non-procedural cardiac patients
• Patient ratio of 1:5-6
• Night shift schedule, 3x12-hour shifts (7:00 PM-7:00 AM)
• Epic charting system used

Requirements

• Active TX or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience preferred
• Travel experience required
• Certifications: BLS and NIHSS required, ACLS also required
• NIHSS certification preferred if not already held
• Skills in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and cardiac monitoring including dysrhythmia interpretation and management
• Experience with central line, PICC line, and peripheral line care/management
• Experience with cardiovascular care including pre/post cardiac catheterization, pre/post cardiac surgery, and sheath removal preferred
• Experience with heparin protocols and management of vasoactive drips (no titration)
• Experience with respiratory care including BiPAP/CPAP management preferred
• Experience with wound care/wound vac and isolation precautions/PPE

Additional Information

• Provide cardiac telemetry nursing care including monitoring for dysrhythmias and utilizing rapid response/code teams as needed
• Candidates residing within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Candidates residing in the following TX counties are not accepted: Henderson, Anderson, Cherokee, Rusk, Panola, Smith, Gregg, Van Zandt, Wood, Upshur, Camp, Hopkins, Franklin, Titus, and Morris
• Former staff must wait 1 year before returning as a traveler
• No travel pairs or groups accepted
• No more than 3 days of RTO will be auto-approved, and no RTO is permitted during the first week of orientation
• All RTO must be listed at time of consideration
• Core onboarding items and labs must be completed within 48 hours of contract signing
• Orientation includes required non-billable modules completed onsite
