Job summary

American Traveler is hiring an experienced RN for Telemetry on a Med-Surg/PCU unit requiring 2 years acute inpatient experience and Epic proficiency. Night shifts run 6:45pm–7:15am, 3 days per week for 36 hours total; every other weekend is required.

The unit features 9–14 beds with 4–5:1 patient ratios and relies on Epic EMR for documentation. Qualifications include active KY or Compact RN license, BLS and NIHSS certifications, and a nursing diploma or ASN.

Qualifications

• Active KY or Compact RN license required.
• Current BLS and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years of acute inpatient RN experience required.
• Nursing Diploma or ASN required.
• Epic EMR experience required.

Responsibilities

• Med-Surg/PCU mixed acuity unit with 9–14 beds.
• Patient ratio of 4–5:1.
• RN reads telemetry and titrates limited medications such as heparin.
• Diagnoses include general medical/surgical conditions.
• Skills utilized include EKG monitoring, trach care, PCA, wound vac, and feeding tubes as needed.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Night shift schedule of 6:45pm–7:15am, 3 days per week, 36 hours weekly.
• Every other weekend required per unit.
• Responsible for patient assessment, care planning, implementation, and evaluation of clinical outcomes.
• Provides patient and family education throughout care and at discharge.
• Collaborates with interdisciplinary teams and may mentor or precept staff members.
• Delegates tasks to licensed and non-licensed personnel as part of unit leadership responsibilities.
• Works within a mixed acuity environment supported by helpful peer staff
