American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Telemetry unit in West Virginia. The candidate must have 5 years of RN experience and at least 1 year of travel nursing experience, with a WV or compact license and required certifications (BLS, ACLS, NIHSS).

Qualifications

• Active WV or compact RN license.
• Minimum 5 years of RN experience.
• At least 1 year of travel nursing experience.
• Comfort with basic dysrhythmia recognition and tele strip interpretation.
• Experience placing IVs.
• Driver's license required.

Responsabilités

• Acute care telemetry unit with 20 private-room beds.
• Nurse:patient ratio of 1:5 for telemetry patients and 1:3-4 for stepdown patients.
• Variable patient diagnoses including telemetry, post-catheterization, medical/surgical with telemetry monitoring, and respiratory difficulty.
• Uses EPIC charting system.
• 12-hour night shifts from 7p to 7:30a.
• Every other weekend required (Friday/Saturday for night shift).
• Every other holiday coverage required (Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Years).
• No on-call requirements.
• Floating may occur to comparable or lower-level units such as telemetry or med/surg, including occasional support for boarded ED or ICU patients.
• Self-scheduling available for travelers.
• Care team includes a designated charge nurse, 2 PCTs per 20 beds, unit-based pharmacist weekdays, 24/7 respiratory therapy, and at least one covering hospitalist at all times.
• Nurses perform point-of-care blood glucose testing and may reconstitute antibiotics and manage titrating medications such as heparin or diltiazem.
• Orientation consists of one shadow shift, one orientation shift, and independent work by the third shift.
• Travelers may occasionally be asked to precept or take charge duties based on comfort level, with manager discussion beforehand.
• Must provide own navy blue scrubs.
• Candidates must reside outside a 50-mile radius from the facility.
• Previous WVU Medicine employees or travelers must have a 2-year break before reapplying.
• Travelers may not work within the WVU system for longer than a year without taking a 2-year break.
