Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Telemetry RN for a 13-week night shift assignment in California. Requires CA RN license, 2+ years of experience, BLS/ACLS, and Epic EMR familiarity. Prior travel nursing experience preferred.

The role covers adult and geriatric patients on a 1:4 ratio, with 3x12 hour nights, and weekend floating. Includes housing/benefits and travel reimbursement where applicable.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license in-hand (EMS A not accepted).
• Minimum 2 years of experience.
• Minimum 1 year of acute care experience.
• At least 1 year of specialty experience within the last 2 years for specialized units.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• OCN and ONCC certifications preferred.
• CPI Blue Card from the Crisis Prevention Institute required in-hand for ER and Float Pool RNs.
• Prior Epic EMR experience noted in work history.
• Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and Heparin protocols.
• Experience with IV therapy/phlebotomy and peripheral line care/management.
• Experience with respiratory care including nasal cannula and non-invasive airway management.
• Charge nurse experience preferred.
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, LTAC, and Trauma Level I/II experience preferred.
• Two supervisor references required for consideration.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Telemetry unit caring for adult and geriatric patients.
• Patient ratio of 1:4 across days, nights, and weekends.
• Night shift schedule (3x12 hours, 1900-0730).
• Weekend coverage required as needed.
• Floating required.
• Epic EMR used.
• Provide telemetry-level nursing care including cardiac monitoring and emergency response for dysrhythmias.
• Local candidates accepted at the same rate as travelers.
• Previous UC Irvine staff must have been gone a minimum of 1 year to return as a traveler.
• No RTO permitted within the first two weeks of the assignment, with a maximum of 7 days of RTO preferred per 13-week contract.
• First-time travelers are not considered for this role.
