Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Surgical ICU night shift position requiring EPIC charting experience and a compact or PA RN license.

Responsibilities include caring for SICU patients with 1:2 ratios, night shifts (3x12), and limited on-call, with potential cross-floats to other ICU areas and holiday requirements.

Qualifications

  • Active RN license (Compact or PA) currently in hand.
  • Current BLS and ACLS certifications required (TNCC preferred).
  • Minimum 2 years of SICU experience required.
  • EPIC charting experience required.
  • Trauma Level I experience preferred.
  • Previous charge nurse experience preferred.
  • Skilled in IV therapy, arterial line management, blood product administration, and central line care.
  • Experience with ventilator management, ABG interpretation, and ETT/NT suctioning.
  • Experience with CVVHD/CRRT and management of acute/chronic renal failure preferred.
  • Experience titrating vasoactive drips and managing continuous IV sedation and emergency medications.
  • Skilled in cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and FloTrac/Vigileo monitoring preferred.
  • Experience with GI surgery patients preferred.
  • Knowledge of isolation precautions and PPE use.

Responsibilities

  • Surgical Intensive Care Unit (SICU) setting within a hospital
  • 1:2 patient ratio
  • Night shift, 3x12-hour shifts (19:00-7:00)
  • Every other weekend (EOW) required
  • May float to all ICU floors
  • No on-call requirements
  • Care for COVID patients as needed
  • Provide critical care nursing to surgical and trauma ICU patients, including those with multisystem organ dysfunction/failure
  • Must work 2 of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving/Black Friday, Christmas Eve/Christmas Day, New Year\u2019s Eve/New Year\u2019s Day), or 1 of 2 if contract spans fewer holidays
  • Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract
  • Candidates must live within a 50-mile radius for local pay rate consideration
  • Facility is tobacco and fragrance free
  • Candidates will undergo a clinical pre-screen and manager interview before final placement
  • Traveler pairs may be considered, though matched schedules cannot be guaranteed
