Job summary

American Traveler, LLC. is seeking an experienced RN for a Pediatric Oncology travel assignment in California. The role requires APHON certification, a CA RN license, and at least two years of pediatric hematology/oncology experience with central line management.

The position features a 7:00 PM–7:00 AM night shift (3x12), a 4-week weekend rotation, and no on-call duties. Epic EMR experience is highly preferred and prior BMT exposure is a plus.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license in hand or ETA for pending licensure accepted
• APHON, BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA) certifications required
• Minimum 2 years pediatric hematology oncology experience required
• Central line management experience required
• BMT experience preferred
• Epic EMR experience highly preferred; strong inpatient Hem/Onc background may be considered in lieu of Epic experience

Responsibilities

• Inpatient Hematology/Oncology unit with 38 beds; care for BMT, neuroblastoma, leukemia, lymphoma and other hemoglobinopathies
• Patient ratio of 1:4
• Perform IV therapy, sedation, post-op care, central line/Hickman/port-a-cath management, blood product and chemotherapy administration
• Night shift schedule: 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 3x12 hours; variable scheduling
• Work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (Fri/Sat nights)
• No on-call requirements; no floating
• Use Epic EMR; experience preferred
• Provide direct patient care for pediatric oncology/hematology; chemotherapy and biotherapy administration
• Manage oncologic emergencies; symptom and pain control; psychosocial/family support
• Work at Magnet-recognized, Level 1 trauma teaching facility named Top 10 Best Children's Hospital by US News & World Report
• Scrubs may be any color
• Work 2 of 3 holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year’s) including eves
• Maximum RTO 6 days
• First-time travelers accepted with strong pediatric oncology exp from similar facility
• Local candidates within 50 miles not accepted
• Former staff must be separated 1 year before traveling
• Free traveler parking provided

• Required to work 4 weekend shifts per 4-week period (Friday and Saturday for nights)
• No on-call requirements
• No floating required
• Uses Epic EMR, experience preferred
• Provide direct patient care for pediatric oncology and hematology patients including chemotherapy administration, biotherapy, and management of oncologic emergencies
• Deliver symptom management, pain management, and psychosocial/family support care
• Work in a Magnet-recognized, Level 1 trauma teaching facility named a Top 10 Best Children's Hospital by U.S. News & World Report
• Scrubs may be any color
• Required to work 2 of the following 3 holidays (including Eves): Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year's
• Maximum RTO of 6 days
• First-time travelers accepted if they have strong pediatric oncology experience from a similar facility
• Local candidates within 50 miles of the facility are not accepted
• Former permanent staff must be separated for at least 1 year before being eligible to travel
