American Traveler is hiring a Registered Nurse for a Pediatrics position requiring PALS certification and 2 years of experience on night shift at a teaching hospital.

Requirements

• Active MO or Compact RN license required in hand at time of consideration
• PALS certification required
• Minimum 2 years of RN experience required
• Teaching hospital, community hospital, and Trauma Level I experience preferred
• Previous charge nurse experience preferred
• Skilled in IV therapy, phlebotomy, and administration of blood and blood products
• Experience with pediatric dosage calculations and emergency medications
• Experience with respiratory care including oxygen delivery systems and oral/nasal suctioning
• Experience with GI care including feedings and NG tube management
• Ability to ambulate, reach, and move objects weighing up to and over 20 lbs

Responsibilities

• Pediatrics unit in a hospital setting, including Pediatric MedSurg, Pediatric Oncology, and Pediatric Step Down
• Patient ratio of 1:4-5
• Night shift, 4x12 hours (7:00 PM-7:30 AM)
• 36 or 48 hour contracts available
• Cerner charting system preferred but not required
• Mandatory floating required, including serving as a Patient Observer (sitter) anywhere in the organization
• No on-call requirement specified
• Provide direct nursing care to pediatric patients across medsurg, oncology, and step-down settings
• Routine contact with patients who may have contagious illnesses
• Facility operates 24/7, 365 days a year, requiring rotating shifts and work during inclement weather
• Holiday coverage required for at least 50% of holidays occurring during the contract
• Weekend work required as assigned
• Maximum 10 days of RTO allowed, with none permitted during the first week due to orientation
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted, though those within 50 miles are not eligible and those within 51-74 miles may be offered a local rate
• Local candidates are not eligible for extensions beyond the initial contract
