Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Pediatric Emergency Room RN for a night-shift travel contract in Des Moines, IA. Requires IA license or compact license, BLS/PALS/TNCC, and recent pediatric ER experience.

Responsibilities include ED care for diverse pediatric populations, possible floating to NICU/PICU, 3x12-hour nights, 1:4 ratio, and 4th weekend requirement. Epic EMR experience is needed; first-time travelers welcome.

Qualifications

• Active IA RN license or compact/multistate license required.
• Current BLS (AHA), PALS (AHA), and TNCC certifications required.
• Pediatric ER experience within the previous 15 months; minimum 12 months for first-time travelers.
• Pediatric experience within the previous 24 months.
• Epic EMR experience within the previous 12 months required.
• Supervisory performance evaluation or reference from within the past 24 months preferred.

Responsibilities

• Pediatric Emergency Department setting within a children's hospital.
• Patient population includes Pediatric Hem/Onc, Med Surg, and all pediatric specialties.
• May float across NICU, B3 general floor, and PICU.
• Patient ratio of 1:4 with a 12-bed unit.
• Night shift schedule, 1900 start time, three 12-hour shifts per week (36 hrs/week).
• Every 4th weekend required.
• No on-call requirements.
• Uses Epic EMR.
• Provide emergency nursing care across pediatric specialties with potential floating to NICU, PICU, and general floor units.
• First-time travelers accepted with at least 12 months of Pediatric ER experience.
• De-escalation certificate considered a plus.
• Must work 1-2 of 3 upcoming Summer holidays (Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day) unless the unit is closed.
• Candidates must reside at least 50 miles from the facility.
• Past employees of the health system (FTE or PRN) are restricted from working travel assignments at other facilities within the same market.
• Local candidates not accepted for this position.
