Job summary

American Traveler is seeking a Registered Nurse for a PreOp/PACU role in California. Requires CA RN license and extensive cardiac cath lab, IR, surgery, and endoscopy experience. Epic EMR proficiency is essential, with 3+ years in acute hospital settings and prior travel nursing background.

Expect varied day shifts (0530–0800 start, 1800–2030 end), and a locally eligible 50-mile radius. Benefits include medical/dental/vision, 401(k), housing allowance, and travel reimbursements.

Qualifications

• Active CA RN license required.
• Current BLS, ACLS, PALS, and NIHSS certifications required.
• Minimum 3 years of relevant nursing experience.
• Acute hospital experience required.
• Cardiac pre/post, cardiac cath lab, IR, surgery, and endo experience required.
• Prior travel nursing experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provides pre/post care for Surgery, Endo, Cath Lab, IR, Radiology, and Infusion patients.
• Cardiac-focused pre/post care in a busy multi-specialty procedural environment.
• Patient ratio of 1:3.
• Variable day shifts Monday through Friday, starting between 0530-0800 and ending between 1800-2030.
• Epic EMR experience required.
• Perform pre-op assessments, education, and medication administration.
• Manage post-op recovery including discharge instructions, medication reconciliation, and follow-up calls.
• Care for patients undergoing cardiac, vascular, ortho/spine, GI, GU, gyn, plastics, and ENT procedures.
• Administer and monitor procedural sedation and manage emergency medications.
• Perform cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia recognition, and 12-lead EKG acquisition.
• Support patients through various anesthesia types including general, MAC, spinal, and nerve blocks.
• Manage central lines, PICC lines, ports, and IV therapy.
• Local candidates accepted at local rate within a 50-mile radius.
• Returning staff must have a 1-year separation before returning as a traveler.
• Maximum RTO of 7 days per contract, with only 1 holiday request approved per contract.
• Holiday coverage required for New Year's Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, and Christmas.
