Job summary

American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Cath Lab pre/post procedural position in Worcester, MA. Active MA RN license and 2+ years cardiac experience are required, with BLS/ACLS certifications in hand. The role features a 21-bed unit, 4:1 patient ratio, and day shifts with optional 6a-2:30p or 8/12 schedules.

Qualifications

• Active MA RN license required in hand.
• Current BLS and ACLS certifications required.
• Minimum 2 years nursing experience; 2–3 years preferred.
• Pre/post procedural experience preferred.
• Cardiac ICU experience preferred.
• Epic charting experience preferred.
• Two professional references required; at least one from Nurse Manager or higher.
• Candidates with prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license will not be considered.

Responsibilities

• Provide pre/post procedural nursing care for cardiac catheterization, structural heart, and vascular lab patients.
• Manage a 21-bed unit with a 4:1 patient ratio in a high STEMI volume setting.
• Deliver care on a day shift: 6:00am–6:30pm; options include 6a-2:30p or 8/12h shifts.
• Work Monday–Friday but may cover all seven days per union requirements.
• Monitor and manage high-acuity cardiac patients, including STEMI.
• Complete orientation tests (EKG and medication) with pass/fail criteria.
• Participate in orientation modules pre-start and annually thereafter.
• First-time travelers welcome; local candidates within 75 miles; RN within 200 miles.
• Ensure patient safety and quality of care throughout the short-stay recovery.
• Adhere to facility policies regarding RTO and staffing rules.

Requirements

• Skills needed include IV therapy/phlebotomy, arterial line management, central and peripheral line care, and blood product administration
• Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation and management, and telemetry required
• Experience managing cardiac and vasoactive drips (no titration) required
• Sheath removal and TR Band application experience required
• Experience with post cardiac angiogram, post MI, and pre/post cardiac cath care required
• Two professional references required for consideration, at least one from a Nurse Manager or higher
• Candidates with prior disciplinary actions on their nursing license will not be considered

Responsibilities

• Cardiac short stay pre/post recovery unit for heart/vascular lab, cath lab, and structural heart procedures
• 21-bed unit with a 4:1 patient ratio
• High STEMI volume with patients held in cardiac short stay until a bed becomes available
• Day shift schedule, 3x12 hours, 6:00am-6:30pm
• Alternative scheduling options available including 6a-2:30p or combinations of 8 and 12 hour shifts
• Monday-Friday schedule, but must be able to work all 7 days as needed due to union facility requirements
• No special scheduling accommodations made for any reason
• Provide pre and post procedural nursing care for cardiac catheterization, structural heart, and vascular lab patients
• Monitor and manage patients with high acuity cardiac conditions including STEMI
• Must complete a Pass/Fail EKG test during orientation with an 80% passing score and only one attempt allowed
• Must also complete a Pass/Fail medication exam during orientation
• Additional online modules required pre-start and during orientation, and annually thereafter
• First-time travelers are welcome to apply
• Local candidates accepted at the same bill rate within a 75-mile radius
• RN candidates must reside within a 200-mile radius
• Returning staff must have a 12-month separation from the health system
• Up to 14 days of RTO may be submitted for review, with no RTO allowed during the first week of the assignment
